RULES
AND REGULATIONS
CAMP POLICY
Over the past 30 years, the Drury Jazz Camp has developed a set of rules and regulations to ensure the safety of all campers, faculty and staff, and ensure that all campers enjoy their time on Drury’s campus. By enrolling in the camp, the students and parents agree to follow the rules and regulations below.
The camp reserves the right, upon notification of parent or guardian to dismiss any student during the camp for the infraction of the following rules and regulations or when the behavior of the student is detrimental to other students or the normal activities of the Drury Jazz Camp. This decision will be made in the best judgment of administration and counseling staff. If a camper is sent home, the parent or guardian will be notified of the decision immediately, and will need to arrange and provide immediate transportation home for their son or daughter at their own expense. There will be no refund of tuition or fees.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. The possession of fireworks is absolutely prohibited. Drury University policy strictly prohibits the possession of any type of fireworks while living in the residence halls.
2. Students are not allowed to bring candles or other flammable materials utilizing an open flame into the residence halls.
3. Students are not allowed to ride in an unauthorized vehicle while attending the Drury Jazz Camp. This includes the car of a Drury University student, other participants of the Drury Jazz Camp, or other unauthorized guests on the Drury campus. An
authorized vehicle includes: a staff member’s car, a counselor’s car, or an administrator’s car. Resident campers are not allowed to travel off-campus with commuters unless given specific permission by a parent or guardian to do so. In addition, a permission form must be on file in the camp office.
4. Cohabitation is strictly prohibited. Men and women will be living in Wallace Hall. The Drury Jazz Camp will
not operate under an “open house” policy; therefore those students found on the incorrect floor are subject to immediate dismissal.
5. Participants are required to wear their nametags at all times. These nametags are your pass into meals, masterclasses, and rehearsals.
6. All students living on campus will be held responsible for any breakage or damage to any articles in the residence halls. Any accidental breakage or damage must be reported immediately to your counselor. Rooms will be checked daily by counselors living on each floor. Any damage caused by an individual or group will be assessed in full amount to restore facilities to their original condition. Damage to furniture and equipment within a room will be assessed equally to the occupants of the room.
7. Students may not change their rooms from those originally assigned to them at registration.
8. Resident campers or commuters needing to miss class or leave campus for any reason (dental appointment,
etc.) must have a permission form signed by their parents on file in the camp office.
9. The possession or consumption of any type of alcohol or controlled substance is absolutely prohibited. If a student is found to have in his/her possession any type of alcohol or drugs, or is found consuming alcohol or drugs, they will be dismissed immediately
10. The Drury Jazz Camp and Drury University accepts no responsibility for the theft, loss, or breakage of personal items, money or valuables. Please keep your dorm room locked when you are not in the room. Do not leave small or portable items in classrooms or rehearsal facilities.
11. Attendance at daily rehearsals, masterclases, theory classes, and concerts is required. Attendance will be taken at each class, rehearsal and concert. Campers who fail to attend camp activities without a signed absence form will be asked to leave.
12. Causing physical danger to others is reason for dismissal without refund. This includes but is not limited to such things as endangering the life or safety of a camper (including yourself), physical violence, over the counter drug abuse, pranks with a potential for harm to any person or property, and the possession of martial arts "toys" or weapons.
13. All belongings should be plainly marked with your name. Although the University and the Drury Jazz Camp will use reasonable effort to protect student property, they are not in any way liable for lost, stolen or damaged property belonging to campers.
